Crisscross two Fatwood sticks on a grate so that the flame will move up the sticks.
Position seasoned split firewood on top of the Fatwood Firestarter sticks. It’s best to leave a bit of room between the Fatwood and the firewood to allow for airflow.
Light one end of each Fatwood stick.
Be safe! Make sure you replace the screen in front of the fireplace.

Wood Stoves For most wood stoves:

Place two Fatwood sticks into the chamber.
Place your seasoned hardwood on the sticks, allowing some room for airflow
Light one end of each Fatwood stick
Adjust the damper and enjoy your wood stove fire.

Pellet stoves For most wood pellet stoves:

Place two Fatwood sticks into the burn pot.
Light one of the ends of each Fatwood stick. NOTE: Depending on the stove type (manual or automatic) this step may not be required. The operating instructions for your specific stove will vary.
Start the stove and monitor it as the auger begins to drop wood pellets into the burn pot. The Fatwood sticks will quickly ignite and spread the fire to the surrounding pellets more evenly.
Adjust the damper and enjoy your wood pellet stove fire.

Arrange your favorite lump charcoal or briquettes to form a pyramid. Insert 2 to 3 pieces of Fatwood Firestarter through the pile so that the ends of the wood stick out 1 to 2 inches from the pyramid.
Light the ends of the Fatwood sticks and leave the fire uncovered for 10-15 minutes.
When coals are covered with a thin layer of white ash and the Fatwood sticks have completely burned away, your fire is ready.
